Cookie Policy

This site sets no cookies at all. It keeps one item on your device — your own answer to the measurement question — and it loads nothing that measures you until that answer is yes.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and to send back on every later request. It is how a site recognises a returning visitor, remembers a preference, or counts an audience. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, device fingerprints — do the same work by other means, and this policy covers them too.

The categories, and what we use

Cookies are conventionally sorted into four kinds. Here is each one, and exactly what Vortway does with it.

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to work at all. We hold no account, no basket and no session, so there is nothing of that sort here. There is one entry: a record named vw-consent, kept in your browser’s local storage, holding whether you allowed measurement and when you said so. It is first-party, it is never transmitted to us, and it is the only reason we do not ask you the same question on every page. Clearing it asks again.

Functional

Remember a choice you made, such as a language or a display preference. We use none. The language you are reading is decided by the address of the page, not by anything stored on your device.

Performance and analytics

Count visits and measure how quickly pages render. If — and only if — you allow it, two scripts from Vercel do this: Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Neither sets a cookie. A visit is identified by a hash Vercel derives from the request itself, and that identifier is discarded after 24 hours, so a session cannot be reconstructed across days or across sites.

Targeting and advertising

Build a profile in order to advertise to you, here or elsewhere. We use none, and we do not intend to. There is no advertising network, no remarketing pixel and no data broker anywhere in this site.

What the measurement scripts record

If you allow it, each page view sends the following to Vercel. There is no name, no email address, no account, and no stored IP address in this list, and nothing in it identifies you.

  • The address of the page and the route pattern behind it.
  • Where you arrived from, and any tracking parameters already in the link.
  • An approximate location derived from the connection: country, region, city.
  • Browser, operating system and whether the device is a phone, a tablet or a desktop.
  • Connection speed as the browser reports it — 4g, 3g and so on.
  • How quickly the page rendered and responded, and which element was slowest.
  • The moment the event was received, and the version of the script that sent it.

Third parties

One, and only with your permission: Vercel, which hosts this site and provides the two measurement scripts above. Everything else the page requests comes from this domain — the typefaces are served by us, the film is ours, and there is no embedded video player, no social widget, no chat tool, no map embed and no comment system. Refuse measurement and the page makes no third-party request at all.

Changing your mind

Cookie settings, at the foot of every page, puts the question back. Answer it again and the change takes effect at once: refusing removes the scripts from the page rather than muting them. Clearing your browser storage has the same effect, because your answer is stored there and nowhere else.

The contact form

Sending the contact form transmits what you typed into it, so we can answer you. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device.

How this page stays true

Measurement was added on 1 August 2026, and this page was rewritten on the same day rather than afterwards. That is the order we intend to keep: if another script is ever added, this page names it first, the request appears before it loads, and refusing loads nothing at all. Continuing to use the site is not consent and will never be treated as consent.
